Born in Montréal, Nathalène Armand is especially fond of music,
champagne and finding just the right word. Blessed with a
refined and inventive style, Nathalène finds her inspiration in
the ephemeral quality of everyday life and in the mystery of
what remains unsaid. Authentic characters, a quirky sense of
humour and a precision are the principle attributes of
her writing. Realism and imagination come together in her work
in a harmony of powerful, evocative images.
Author, writer, copy-editor and scriptwriter, Nathalène
published her first novel, Le bonheur rend sourd, in 2006. The manuscript was a finalist for the prestigious Robert-Cliche
prize, which recognises the talent of first-time authors. In
2005, Arts – Sciences – Lettres, an academic educational society
established by the Académie française, awarded her the Bronze Medal in
the Écrivain ("Author") category to highlight her literary
potential and encourage her to continue writing. La valse des
timides is her second novel.
Nathalène obtained a Master’s degree in Creative
Writing from McGill University. She also gives business writing
workshops. |

La valse des timides
The province of Québec is hit by a heatwave. In the
middle of this inferno, three people — Adeline, Yuki and Louis —
must face both the heat and their own demons, each in their own
way.
The unique structure of this novel allows the reader to choose
the order in which to read the stories. Three stories, for
the three steps of the waltz.
